Grant, Harrison, and Pendleton Counties ... a place in time and an area unto itself

THE COMMUNITY OF CROOKED CREEK
... an early frontier, full of history with names familiar to most of us.

Crooked Creek has never been listed as a town, a city & never had a post office, but mention Crooked Creek and most older folks know exactly what community you are talking about.
I have made it my task over the last few years, to get to as many “older” folks from the Crooked Creek area and talk to them about the history they know.  The irony of that statement is that at this printing I am 73 years of age, so finding the old folks gets tougher and tougher!
One these “Community” pages I will try to make as much of the history available as I can locate.  In many cases I am just “borrowing” from others (recorded here to preserve), but quite often you will find original statements and listen to the voice of someone who really knew of the time and place we were talking of.
Many stories handed down and told here date back into the late 1800’s and early 1900’s ... stories told by grandparents and recalled to me by people in their late 80’s and 90’s.  One of my very most favorites has to be Ms Anna Mary (Kells) Gordon whom I interviewed the first time when she was 96 years old.  Her memory was extremely acute and later verified to be incredibly accurate!
So ... browse around and come back often as I will be constantly adding to this area.
